Carpe Noctem was born from....
The beginning
How it started
This all started when Becs had a "minor" health scare and wanted to do a job that was kinder on her mind, body and soul. So after her husband told her for many years she should sell her artwork she thought she would give it a go.
She was asked by a friend to help with a business so left the 9-5 and went fully in.
Becs then started painting hats and jackets and co owning a business in Glastonbury.
But when the partnership broke down Becs decided to start over.
So with the amazing support of family and friends Carpe Noctem was born.
A space where not only she can showcase her artwork and creations, but her extremely inspiring friends can also do the same.
We now make 60% of the products in house between Becs and her husband Kelv.
First year
Building up
Well funny story really.
After Becs made the very difficult decision to walk away from a flourishing business in Glastonbury due to a business partnership not quite working out she spent a year selling her artwork and creations at markets until she found her perfect shop space.
After looking and looking one premises shop listing kept popping up but she didn't think it could be turned into a shop. After the 10th time it popping up she took it as a sign and found how magical it looked inside. almost as if the premises was calling her.
Becs saw the vision of how every single room was going to look. So when explaining to her husband Kelv "you're going to walk into the moonlit forest through to the witches living room" his reply was "just tell me where to paint" and rest rest is history.
We documented every step of our build on our instagram page so check it out how we took a very white sterile office building and made it magical.
Becs wanted to start small with 25 stockists in the shop but then ended up opening with 40.
We have turned 7 rooms into such a mystical space with 4 rooms of shop,
1 tattoo studio,
1 laser removal/ tattoo studio
and 1 very special readers room.
Here and now
Currently
It's been a fantastic first year open. We went from 40 stockists to now have 150 amazing small businesses and artists with us (which is unbelievable). We have had 5 amazing markets organised by us and are finalists for Small Business of the year 2025 representing Somerset.
We are growing at a rapid pace and its incredible.
We are currently working of our new apothecary station where you can get all your witchcraft ingredients you need for your craft and will keep striving to make this the best we can for everyone.
What does the future hold?
Well we have so much planned.
We aren't going to stop. Skies the limit really. We have a revamp on our markets for 2026. With a new venue space and lean more into the Wiccan witchy spiritual side.
We want to host more events as business so we are planning to host our very own Carpe Noctem Masquerade ball.
There's even talks of a YouTube channel so I guess watch this space.
